New Jersey’s landscape presents unsurpassed opportunities for urban redevelopment. There is also rising concern about protecting its rural resources, communities, and open space. Kimmerle Group agrees and, after 30 years in all areas of practice, has aligned its business plan to address these opportunities.

Kimmerle Group now focuses on redevelopment and planning work with an emphasis on repositioning and reinventing existing buildings and communities, and assumes an environmental stewardship role in New Jersey’s rural areas.

George Kimmerle’s PhD studies in redevelopment policy and planning (Rutgers University), along with the firm’s experience as master and urban planners, helped transition Kimmerle Group to a new platform while retaining its longstanding clients and relationships.

Today, Kimmerle Group comprises 35 professionals of varied specialties across six integrated divisions to assist its diverse clientele in every phase of project development: master and urban planning, architecture, interiors, project management, FFE, and branding. The firm works in corporate, commercial, office/retail, healthcare, education and residential sectors, planning and urban design, and historic preservation.

Clients include:

Municipalities — master planning, revitalization, urban design.
Large medical centers – reposition assets, including major master plans, especially in urban settings or on environmentally sensitive sites.
Private developers, real estate funds, national REITS — architectural design solutions for existing urban and suburban buildings, full refits of new acquisitions.

Based in its new sustainably built headquarters in rural Harding, NJ, with offices in Manhattan’s Chelsea art district, Kimmerle Group maintains active licenses in 45+ states, serving New Jersey-based corporations’ national requirements. The firm’s master planning work often includes joint academic and student participation; its principals have maintained faculty postings at NYU and Rutgers, and visiting critic roles at NJIT, Pratt and several community colleges.

Community Involvement

Kimmerle Group has a 30-year history of public architecture, particularly in areas serving at-risk children and adults, crime victims, the mentally and physically disabled, and seniors. The firm donates countless hours to not-for-profit causes throughout the tri-state area, and has been recognized for its long-term commitment to New Jersey-based non-profit agencies and organizations.
