Port Henry Town Master Plan

A joint university and Kimmerle Group effort focused on the development of a visioning and community re-branding plan for Port Henry, NY as a destination resort at the southern tip of Lake Champlain. The program was underwritten by local real estate interests in the Port Henry area and was addressed the following program: Downtown redevelopment studies includes traffic calming and circulation, infill development, and the reassignment and reuse of existing structures for a variety of retail and housing uses. The development of a new town center in conjunction with a transit facility at the current Amtrak station along the Lake Champlain waterfront. Redevelopment of private and publicly owned waterfront property to address marina, housing, civic, and recreation use. Redevelopment of an existing municipal golf course for expanded play and multi-family housing. Urbanism principals were integrated into the program for a high density, summer cottage community for this seasonal beach front second home housing program. The program spanned two semesters and integrated the resources of RU/Bloustein School, the Voorhees Transit Institute and NYU’s Real Estate Institute students and faculty.
