Kimmerle Newman Architects participated in our first @iida_panjde Fashion Meets Finish event!

The past three months our design team, Rigid Movement has worked with our amazing @forms_surfaces rep, David Kinnaird to create a garment made from the plastic film interlayer in laminated glass. Our team interpreted Rei Kawakubo’s The Art of the In-between as bold sculptural forms that relate to post modern buildings such as The Vessel at Hudson Yards, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and Haydar Aliyev Center. We were awarded Best Use of Materials!!! Winning this category meant a lot to our team because it exemplified our interpretation of the juxtaposition between rigid and movement. Our garment design aligned very well with Kawakubo’s interpretation of “clothes as objects for the body.” Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the process and during the event. It was truly amazing to see all the creativity and encouragement amongst all the teams that night. We are looking forward to participating again in the future!
